Gayle Greve Hunt School of Nursing Grand Lobby Named in Honor of Tyler Francis
In honor of the life and legacy of Tyler Francis, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso (TTUHSC El Paso) named the entrance lobby of the Gayle Greve Hunt School of Nursing (GGHSON) the Lawrence Tyler Francis Grand Lobby.
Tyler Francis passed away on November 24, 2014, at the age of 29. A fifth generation El Pasoan and Texas Tech University (TTU) alumnus, Tyler was the son of Ginger and Fredrick “Rick” Francis, who serves on the Board of Regents for the Texas Tech University System.
The Francis family has always shared a heartfelt desire to help others and give back to the El Paso community. Over the years, the family has also been a great champion of the TTU System and its institutions.
A reception and dedication was held Friday, June 10. Chancellor Robert L. Duncan, TTUHSC El Paso President Richard Lange, M.D., M.B.A., and Regent Rick Francis made remarks at the dedication ceremony. The Texas Tech Foundation Board of Directors, which meets quarterly to provide volunteer leadership to facilitate institutional advancement, was also in attendance.
