Leadership Texas – Last Sunday we hosted about 100 female leaders from around Texas. Current Leadership Texas members joined former members for a night at TTUHSC El Paso to learn about health care in the El Paso region. The women joined me, The Hospitals of Providence Market CEO Sally Hurt-Deitch and Sierra Campus CEO Monica Vargas-Mahar to discuss how we are poised to be the example of the health care of the future. Every year Leadership Texas members participate in a series of interactive, expert-led sessions that are crafted to expand each woman’s understanding of the interconnectedness of the myriad issues, dynamics and cultures that propel the state, nation and globe. My thanks to Ginger Raya, Susanne Van-Weelden and Victoria Pineda for representing TTUHSC El Paso and being part of the Leadership Texas class of 2015.

EPPIC Consortium Accreditation – The El Paso Psychology Internship Consortium (EPPIC), a partnership between TTUHSC El Paso’s Department of Psychiatry and the University of Texas at El Paso University Counseling Center (UCC), has received accreditation by the American Psychological Association. Supporting partners of EPPIC include the Paso del Norte Health Foundation and the Hogg Foundation for Mental Health, both of which contributed funding. Created in August 2012, EPPIC is a one-year, full-time training program providing doctoral student interns the opportunity to accrue 2000 hours of practical experience. EPPIC is the only APA-accredited psychology internship program in the Paso Del Norte Region.
