Osteopathic Medicine in the Spotlight on ‘The Exam Room’
Blake Busey, D.O., an assistant professor in TTUHSC El Paso’s Department of Family Medicine, discussed the “whole-person” philosophy of osteopathic medicine during the June 27 broadcast of “The Exam Room.”
Dr. Busey, who sees patients at Texas Tech Physicians of El Paso at Transmountain and The Hospitals of Providence Transmountain Campus, explained that osteopathic physicians consider the interaction of mind, body, spirit and daily activities when treating patients. The branch of osteopathic medicine also incorporates manipulation of the bones, joints, muscles and fasciae.
Dr. Busey also discussed techniques for preventing and treating migraines, and the benefits of auricular therapy (also known as ear acupuncture).
