The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso Paul L. Foster School of Medicine held its 2016 commencement May 20 at the beautiful Plaza Theatre in downtown El Paso. The 72 graduates will now move on to their respective residency programs. Though each graduate is now a fully licensed M.D., he/she must complete a required residency, on-the-job training typically taking three to four years to complete, depending on the individual’s medical focus. Every person in this year’s group of graduating doctors has matched with residency programs across the country, including prestigious medical institutions such as Baylor College of Medicine (Houston, Texas), George Washington University (Washington, D.C.), Tufts Medical Center (Boston, Mass.) and even the National Institute of Health (Bethesda, Md.).
To date, TTUHSC El Paso has played an integral role in a total of 242 physicians earning their health care degrees.
