Why are you interested in nursing?
It is a career that is constantly evolving. There are many different areas where nurses can work (i.e. pediatrics, family medicine, Ob/Gyn, nursing homes, hospice, etc.) so you are continuously learning new things and are being challenged.

Where do you see yourself five years after graduation?
With my master’s degree. Hopefully a FNP (Family Nurse Practitioner) or Midwife. I would like to focus on women’s health.

Favorite things to do in El Paso:
Movies, running/walking at McKelligon Canyon, and hiking.

What do you do in your downtime?
Spend time with my family, go to the movies, take my daughter to kid places (Jungle Jaks, Peter Piper Pizza, Chuck e Cheese), read action novels, and shopping.

Three words that describe you:
Outgoing, funny, and organized.

Something about you that not many people may know:
I guess I could say that I love to garden and grow plants. I just started last year. I was actually able to grow an avocado plant after many attempts. It’s about 18 inches tall now and I am working on avocado plant number two.

Why are you interested in biomedical research?
I believe biomedical research is the guide to unraveling our body’s mysteries to improve the lives of millions of people.

Where do you see yourself five years after graduation?
Hopefully in medical school.

Favorite thing to do in El Paso:
Drive around and explore new restaurants. It’s so much more convenient getting around than Houston and the local joints are delicious!

What do you do in your downtime?
I’m a trained Indian classical dancer and love learning different dance forms. In addition, I enjoy writing and traveling when my bank account allows.

Three words that describe you:
Compassionate, organized and ambitious.

Something about you that not many people may know:
I’m a Full House fanatic (the show back in the 90’s), and cannot wait for the spin-off, Fuller House.

What made you decide that medicine is the career for you?
I learned from my dad what a rewarding career choice that he found within medicine, and shadowing other local physicians to learn about their experiences helped me solidify my decision.

Where do you see yourself five years after completing your residency graduation?
I’d like to pursue a career in academics in order to keep up-to-date on the cutting edge of my chosen specialty.

Favorite thing to do in El Paso:
Explore the evolving nightlife!

What do you do in your downtime?
I like to read contemporary fiction (Chuck Palahniuk is my favorite author), lift weights, and keep up with basketball, football, and boxing.

Three words that describe you:
Outgoing, witty, and relaxed.

Something about you that not many people may know:
I’m an absolute sucker for karaoke nights.
