At Race El Paso, we are passionate about cultivating an active, healthy community of enthusiastic runners, cyclists, swimmers, and triathletes. With the support of committed organizations like Texas Tech Physicians at El Paso, we are working to equip and empower beginner and advanced athletes while providing engaging opportunities to get fit and have fun.
One such opportunity is the upcoming Mighty Mujer Triathlon, an all-female “super sprint” race through Central El Paso. Now in it’s third year, Mighty Mujer (Spanish for “woman”) is not just another race, but an opportunity to recognize your own potential and push yourself to new heights. According to 2-time Mighty Mujer Liz O’Hara Williams, “There’s a girl power vibe…The body types, the ages, all that stuff just washes away. It’s not about competing with the woman next to you, it’s about competing with the woman inside of you.”
If you have ever considered competing in a triathlon or are just looking for a fun way to be active and meet an inspiring group of women, this event is for you! Asked for her best piece of encouragement to new athletes, Dr. Theresa Byrd of Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center at El Paso said, “Just do it! You don’t have to be fast – just have endurance! Avoid stressing about it. I like to think of the event as a fun day of activity (actually only about two hours) – just think about having fun!”
Mighty Mujer Triathlon will take place April 19 at Memorial Park. Register online today and come see what the excitement is all about!
