The Texas Tech Physicians of El Paso Breast Care Center hosted its annual symposium Friday, Oct. 14, in conjunction with national Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The latest advances in breast cancer treatment were discussed, including the most recent guidelines for screening and genetic testing, as well as appropriate intervention strategies.
“The pace of progress in breast cancer is so rapid that it makes it difficult at times to keep up with all the recent advances,” Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso (TTUHSC El Paso) Professor Zeina Nahleh, M.D., said. “This symposium aims to update oncology professionals, nurses, caregivers and students about the latest advances in breast cancer.”
Keynote speaker Helen Chew, M.D., joined TTUHSC El Paso faculty to discuss notable progress in breast cancer. Dr. Chew is a professor of oncology and the director of the Clinical Breast Care Center at the University of California, Davis.
