The TTUHSC El Paso Office of Diversity Affairs sponsored the 1st Annual Cultural Diversity Celebration on Friday, May 16th in the grassy area near the Medical Education Building. The event featured performances by Capoiera Quinto Sol, Samba Batucada Alma de Fogo, and Belly Dancing by Fayruz. Various types of food were provided courtesy of Thai Chef Café, Mediterranean Cuisine Greek and Arabic Food, and House of Kabob. Over 200 staff, students, and faculty participated.
The purpose of this event is to promote awareness of the diverse cultures on campus. “In celebrating our differences, as well as our common interests, it helps to unify campus as well as educate everyone. These campus-wide activities serve as a venue for all to appreciate the diversity on campus in a fun way and it also provides an opportunity for individuals to network,” said Jessica Calderon- Mora, director, TTUHSC at El Paso Office of Diversity Affairs.
