Electric vehicle drivers can now charge their cars for free at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso (TTUHSC El Paso). The four charging stations, offered by Parking and Transportation Services, are a first for TTUHSC El Paso.
“TTUHSC El Paso is committed to sustainability and protecting the environment,” says Frank Stout, chief operating officer. “By installing these stations, we hope to support an increasing number of students, faculty, and staff pursuing a cleaner, more energy efficient lifestyle.”
The campus charging stations are located in the northeast section of the Academic Services Building II (ASB II) parking lot. Four additional charging stations were also installed at the new Texas Tech Physicians of El Paso Transmountain location (2000 Transmountain Road).
Those interested in using the stations must first create an account on the website ChargePoint. Once registered, users will receive a ChargePoint card in the mail. Though charging is free, a card is required to use the stations.
The Office of Physical Plant and Support Services has plans to build additional stations along North Concepcion Street once remodeling of the ASB II is officially complete in 2018.
