Employee Giving Campaign: Debra Mora
Each month, a Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso employee who contributes to the university’s Employee Giving Campaign will be featured. Participating in this campaign sends a powerful message to the community that employees not only work here, but also truly believe in our mission to serve all people through exemplary patient care, education and research. This month’s employee is Debra Mora, unit billing manager for the Department of Pediatrics.
When someone leads by example, they show others around them what is possible. Others can look at them and say, “Well, if they can do it, I can do it.” Debra Mora, a 10-year employee with the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso Department of Pediatrics, and a 40-year health care veteran, brings tenacity and a strong work ethic to her career and family.
“Working hard was a given while raising children and trying to advance my career in the medical field,” said Mora. “I was always interested in health care. My family and responsibilities drove me to excel in the field.”
Under her influence, Mora’s six children and 15 grandchildren have blossomed into productive leaders in their own right. Mora’s youngest daughter, 1st Lt. Krystal Mora, recently went up for the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge and achieved the Gold badge while stationed in Kuwait with the U.S. Army.
“I am a proud mom! I inspired my children and now they are inspiring me,” said Mora.
Inspiration led Mora to donate to the Employee Giving Campaign to support the Student Excellence Fund. The fund benefits students from every school, allowing maximum impact.
“Health care has always been like a candy store to me. All areas are fascinating and fun to work in. I hope my gift can help students find their passion in the field.”
