Employee Giving Campaign: Marina Mancha Supports Research at TTUHSC El Paso
Each month, a Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso employee who contributes to the university’s Employee Giving Campaign will be featured. Participating in this campaign sends a powerful message to the community that employees not only work here, but also truly believe in our mission to serve all people through exemplary patient care, education and research. This month’s employee is Marina Mancha, Unit Manager, Parking and Transportation Services.
Marina Mancha has seen Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso evolve immensely during her 16 years at the university.
“It was pretty much just one building,” Mancha said of the campus’ early years. “It was really small. It’s a blessing to be part of an institution that has gone through so much change and just keeps growing and getting better.”
After working in different departments over the years, she found a home in Parking and Transportation Services 11 years ago.
“It keeps me on my toes,” she said of her role as unit manager of the department.
One way employees can show their support for TTUHSC El Paso’s mission of education, research and patient care is through the Employee Giving Campaign (EGC), which Mancha has been contributing to over the last two years.
“I wanted to support research since it’s pivotal to medical advancements,” said Mancha, who directs her contributions to the EGC’s General Research Excellence Fund. “We’re all affected by diseases and illness in one shape or form, either through personal struggle, or we know someone who’s dealing with it. In my instance, I have family members that deal with diabetes, and we’ve had some who have passed away from cancer.”
Employees can choose to contribute to the EGC through a one-time donation or regular paycheck deductions.
