On Nov. 10, Rakesh Khatri, M.D., was elected to the Board of Directors for the Society of Vascular and Interventional Neurology (SVIN), the nation’s preeminent interventional neurology society.
In his new role, Dr. Khatri, who also holds a faculty position in the Department of Neurology at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso (TTUHSC El Paso), will collaborate with other renowned leaders in the field and represent the university at the national level.
“The SVIN brings another achievement to our rapidly growing Neurology Department at TTUHSC El Paso,” said Dr. Khatri. “This national-level recognition speaks to the high quality of our neurointervention services.”
As a faculty member in the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine, Dr. Khatri both teaches and treats patients at university-affiliated teaching hospitals. Dr. Khatri’s specialty areas include neurological disorders, neurocritical care and cerebrovascular diseases.
Dr. Khatri is also an active clinical researcher. His work has been published in multiple cerebrovascular journals; he has authored several book chapters; and he has served as co-editor of the neurointervention textbook “Complications of Neuroendovascular Procedures and Bailout Techniques,” published by Cambridge Medicine.
In addition to his role in the SVIN, Dr. Khatri serves as secretary for the International Society of Interventional Neurology (ISIN). He joined TTUHSC El Paso in October 2016.
