EL PASO, Texas – The public has been invited to participate in the 6th Annual Students United Para Nuestra Salud, or SUNS, Health Fair is a student-run health fair that provides free health related services to the community of El Paso.

Started by Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso (TTUHSC El Paso) medical student Chau Vu and the Department of Family and Community Medicine, the health fair offers preventive screenings such as blood pressure and diabetes screenings, dental screenings, glaucoma screenings, and EKG screenings. Additional services will include free vaccinations, free bicycle helmets for children, a blood drive, prizes and activities, and physicians will be on hand to answer questions and give presentations.

The SUNS Health Fair is run by a student committee comprised of 11 members. These students, along with area volunteer physicians and TTUHSC El Paso faculty, will conduct the individual educational booths and various health screenings.

This year’s event is expected to draw approximately 700 attendees, and with the volunteer list growing, events, presentations, and activities are still being added.
