Joint Task Force – TTUHSC at El Paso has been invited to participate in a joint task force to address an emerging situation at El Paso Children’s hospital. As we are all aware, El Paso Children’s opened two years ago and is in the midst of a transition from a newly opened hospital attempting to recruit new physicians, to a stable income generating endeavor. Also on the joint task force are members of the University Medical Center (UMC) of El Paso board, El Paso Children’s Hospital board, Texas Tech University HSC at El Paso, and other parties. I look forward to participating in these discussions representing Texas Tech’s educational interests and contributing to El Paso Children’s financial success.
Chancellors Farewell – On Tuesday, Texas Tech University System Chancellor Kent Hance made his final visit as chancellor to the El Paso campus for a reception honoring his dedicated service and leadership. While here, he expressed his gratitude to all staff and faculty for working so hard to grow the El Paso campus into a full university. I want to thank Chancellor Hance for his constant support of our vision and wish him the very best as he begins the next chapter in his life. Look for photos and more on Chancellor Hance’s accomplishment’s in this week’s Tech View blog.
Texas Tech and the Community – Stay tuned for more news regarding expansion of our university’s activities and role in the El Paso Community. I will be holding a Dean’s Forum on Friday, May 9th, to further delineate this exciting development for the future of our university.
