Willed Body Program – I received word this week that the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center at El Paso Willed Body Program is ready to initiate operations. Like all major medical schools, our Paul L. Foster School of Medicine will have an opportunity for our community members to donate their body to science thereby assisting future doctors and scientists in their understanding of and research in human anatomy. If you’d like to learn more, visit our website at

Also, look for our media announcements next week, and a story in the Tech View blog.

Community Faculty Newsletter – In a similiar fashion, we are expanding our outreach by creating a new community faculty newsletter. Our unique curriculum relies on these wonderful community faculty volunteers to guide our medical students’ education. I hope it is a valuable resource to our community doctors.

BOR Meeting – Finally, our Texas Tech University System Board of Regents meeting is in Lubbock this week. Part of the agenda will be reviewing the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine recommendations for promotion and tenure. I look forward to releasing information on their actions in next week’s blog.
