On April 21, future medical students from throughout El Paso County gathered at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso (TTUHSC El Paso) to learn about the road to medical school.
In addition to touring the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine (PLFSOM), participants had the opportunity to network with current medical students and learn about the admissions process, including the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) and interviewing for medical school.
The visiting students also had a chance to master wound suturing skills by practicing on anatomical arms and pads.
The Journey to Medical School event was hosted by TTUHSC El Paso’s Area Health Education Center (AHEC), a program that focuses on developing tomorrow’s health care providers. Both high school students and undergraduates were invited to participate.
