LabCorp, a full service clinical laboratory, is scheduled to open April 20 in the lower level of the Texas Tech Medical Center, and will provide all clinical laboratory, as well as cytology and anatomic pathology services including cholesterol, chemistry panels, complete blood counts (CBC), and urinalysis. The laboratory is open to Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) El Paso staff and their families, TTUHSC El Paso patients, as well as the public-at-large. LabCorp is fully integrated into the TTUHSC El Paso Electronic Health Record (EHR), so providers can order tests electronically through the EHR, and the results will be returned to the patient’s medical record in the lab worksheet.
Patients will be able take lab orders received at their physician’s office to the service center and collections will be performed on site, according to Terry Farrell, general manager for LabCorp.
“All testing will be performed in our Dallas based laboratory and returned directly to the ordering physician upon completion. In most cases, routine testing will be returned to the ordering physician within 24-48 hours,” he said.
Collection and phlebotomy services will be available on an outpatient basis to all physicians and clinicians with TTUHSC El Paso, as well as those in the surrounding area. The LabCorp Patient Service Center will be open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. LabCorp will staff and operate the laboratory collection center.
The LabCorp space occupies approximately 750 sq. ft. of space formerly occupied by the University Medical Center of El Paso Lab. For more information on the facility, contact Lisa Badillo, director of TTUHSC El Paso Contracting Services, (915) 215-4585.
