The TransPecos/El Paso Regional Commercialization and Innovation Center (RCIC), funded by the Emerging Technology Fund (ETF), announced the launch of the El Paso Innovation and Commercialization (EPIC) Fund. This $500,000 grant program comprised of support from ETF, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center at El Paso (TTUHSC El Paso) and the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) is designed to stimulate commercial development of research discoveries at the institutions by providing grants for commercial development and maturation of early stage technology into marketable intellectual property. Its main goal is to help bridge the gap between discovery and invention.
In order to apply for funds, the project investigator(s) must be employed or be a university spinout at either the TTUHSC-El Paso or UTEP campus. The tech transfer offices will receive the applications and forward them for review by the EPIC review board. Please note that project investigators must disclose their intellectual property to their employing campus before submission, and hereto the disclosure deadlines from their respective tech transfer offices.
