MEB Library Installs Swipe-Card Security System for Students

IMG_3316Late-night studiers using Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso (TTUHSC El Paso)’s new Medical Education Building (MEB) study area now have 24/7 access via a key card-access security system on the east side of the library.

The study space, designed for quiet, daytime and after-hours study, has been retrofitted with cameras and a key card system to ensure student safety at all hours. The cameras will constantly be monitored by campus security, and after hours the area is only accessible with a TTUHSC El Paso student key card (during the day, it is also accessible through a door from the west side of the library). These additional layers of security ensure that students have a safe and secure place to study, even when the rest of the campus is closed.

While the study area is available 24/7, students are reminded that exterior access to the MEB is restricted after midnight. Those who wish to use the space after-hours are asked to contact campus police for building access.IMG_3314
