Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) El Paso President Richard Lange announced this week that Teresa Almengor is the new senior director of the TTUHSC El Paso Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP). Almengor is new to the institution and began in February. She has 22 years of experience in a variety of grants management roles – fourteen of those years were in an Office of Research and Sponsored Projects (ORSP). “Terry is the ideal individual to lead OSP during this time of transition as we move to become a fully independent medical university,” said President Lange.
“OSP staff members are expert on grant budgets and can help edit budget justifications so that they comply with agency rules,” said Peter Rotwein, M.D., TTUHSC El Paso assistant vice president and associate dean for research. “They also will help investigators comply with the new NIH Bio-sketch requirements, and can provide guidance and advice to improve all other parts of an application except for the scientific content.” In consultation with President Lange, Dr. Rotwein and OSP Lubbock, Almengor has already identified ways to standardize, streamline and improve the TTUHSC El Paso grant submission process.
