Frederick and Ginger Francis Lecture Hall in the MEB, Room 1200.
The rise of antimicrobial resistance is a threat to us all, although we have known for decades the dangers of antibiotic overuse and resistance, the public has given relatively little attention to this issue- until now.
A report last year by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimated that 23,000 people die annually in the U.S. and more than 2 million are sickened by resistant infections. The spread of these drug resistant bacteria has been referred to as Nightmare Bacteria. The World Health Organization (WHO) refers to this problem as “A problem so serious that it threatens the achievements of modern medicine.” Please join us for the screening of this award winning, investigative documentary.
