Jo-Anna Palma, an entering student scheduled to matriculate in July 2014 at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center Paul L. Foster School of Medicine, was among nine Texans awarded scholarships by the Texas Medical Association (TMA) at its annual conference in Ft. Worth earlier this month. Palma was recognized among the winners of this award under the TMA’s Minority Scholarship Program for academic achievement, commitment to community service and a deep desire to care for Texas’s increasingly diverse population. Palma is from El Paso and a graduate of St. Mary’s University in San Antonio. Her scholarship is funded with gifts from the Hidalgo-Starr and El Paso County Medical Societies. “We are proud of Jo-Anna Palma for this award, congratulate her and look forward to seeing her in July as part of the entering Class of 2018”, said Manuel Schydlower, M.D., associate dean for admissions, TTUHSC PLFSOM.
