Why are you interested in nursing?
Nursing is a profession that allows me to help and care for others in ways in which not a lot of people are capable of doing. Nursing gives me the opportunity to meet many different people and build close and strong relationships with each individual I care for. Nursing is also a field that is constantly challenging my knowledge and expanding my education with each experience and patient throughout my career. Knowing that I am contributing to another person’s life in a positive way is very fulfilling and gives me a great sense of accomplishment.

Where do you see yourself five years after graduation?
In five years I plan to pursue or complete my education as a nurse anesthetist.

Favorite thing to do in El Paso: Trying out new delicious and unique diverse foods around town.

What do you do in your downtime?
I enjoy staying at home with my fiancé and relaxing or joining my Crossfit family in workouts.

Three words that describe you:
Positive, charismatic, gracious.

Something about you that not many people may know:
Initially a lot of people don’t know that I am Hawaiian and when I tell them my nationality they are usually intrigued. I was born in Hawaii but our family moved when my father was stationed to El Paso for the U.S. Army.

Why are you interested in biomedical research?
Biomedical sciences incorporates all the basic sciences of life. It is evolutionary and at the forefront of looking at ways to prevent and treat diseases. I have always had a passion for helping people and for the science field. With biomedical research, my two loves overlap.

Where do you see yourself five years after graduation?
After this program I hope to continue my education by attending medical school.

Favorite thing to do in El Paso:
One of my favorite things about El Paso are the mountains, so I thoroughly enjoy hiking the trails.

What do you do in your downtime?
In my down time I love to read, anything from fiction novels to autobiographies. I am also currently learning to play guitar and enjoy that in my downtime as well.

Three words that describe you:
Determined, kindhearted, and goofy.

Something about you that not many people may know:
I am a second-degree black belt.

I wanted a career where I could make a lasting impact on people’s lives every day.

Not sure yet.

Watch the sunset.

What do you do in your downtime?
Workout, give basketball lessons, go two-stepping, play guitar, hike, run, bike, swim, be outdoors, and cook.

Driven, passionate, and kind.

I can play the piano.
