‘The Exam Room’ Focuses on Women’s Health

The March 29 broadcast of “The Exam Room” covered the topic of women’s health and featured guests Shirley Hinshaw, M.D., and Naima Khamsi, M.D.

“The Exam Room” is a Facebook Live Q&A that offers the El Paso community an opportunity to engage with expert health care professionals from Texas Tech Physicians of El Paso.

Dr. Khamsi is a native El Pasoan and assistant professor in Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso’s Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She sees patients at Texas Tech Physicians of El Paso at Transmountain, as well as The Hospitals of Providence Transmountain Campus. Her clinical interests include high-risk pregnancies in the Latina population.

Dr. Hinshaw is also an assistant professor in TTUHSC El Paso’s Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and sees patients at Texas Tech Physicians of El Paso at Transmountain and The Hospitals of Providence Transmountain Campus. Her clinical interests include preventive care, in-office procedures and minimally invasive surgery.

The physicians answered a number of viewer questions, covering the topics of: birth control recommendations for young women; the need for prenatal vitamins during pregnancy, postpartum depression and heart disease in women.

Each month, “The Exam Room” holds one or more public Q&As, each focusing on a different health-related topic and highlighting a Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso  health care specialist who has volunteered to answer questions on the subject.
