TTUHSC El Paso Hosts Q&A on Stroke

In recognition of National Stroke Awareness Month, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso (TTUHSC El Paso) hosted a Facebook Live Q&A on stroke Friday, May 11. This month’s guests were Salvador Cruz-Flores, M.D., chair of TTUHSC El Paso’s Department of Neurology, and Alberto Maud, M.D., associate professor in the Department of Neurology.

Drs. Cruz-Flores and Maud took questions from listeners on common stroke symptoms, risk factors and stroke prevention, and how to help a loved one who might be having a stroke. The doctors also discussed University Medical Center of El Paso (UMC)’s recent designation as a Comprehensive Stroke Center (CSC), which means the hospital is equipped to treat even the most complex stroke cases. UMC is the Borderland’s first and only CSC.
