TTUHSC El Paso Kicks Off the Season with Annual Holiday Light Show

Mascots busted a move, snacks were eaten and smiles were shared at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso’s fifth annual Cookies, Cocoa and Holiday Cheer celebration.

The celebration, sponsored by El Paso Electric, featured a festive light show, mascot dance off, food and free health care screenings by TTUHSC El Paso’s student organizations.

Several special guests were in attendance this year, including The Jefferson High School Silver Fox marching band and 93.1 KISS FM radio hosts Mike Martinez and Tricia Martinez of the “Mike and Tricia Mornings” show, who emceed the event.

Additionally, Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus, the Grinch, Belle and the Snowflake Princesses all dropped by to visit with families and take pictures with attendees.

The light show – presented by the same team previously behind the famous Fred Loya holiday light show – lit up the night with dazzling lights and holiday tunes. The show’s countdown was led by El Paso Locomotive FC athletes Omar Salgado and Javier Becker, with help from five-year-old Stevie Lerma, a young cancer survivor. Afterward, TTUHSC El Paso’s seasonal campus lights were turned on for the first time.
