The TTUHSC El Paso Office of Global Health kick off their Fall semester monthly Perspectives Film series and will screen the award winning documentary, Saving Face on September 25th from Noon – 1 p.m. in room MEB 1200.
The documentary follows Dr. Mohammad Jawad, a Karachi-born, London-based plastic surgeon who tries to help women who have been injured in acid attacks. Saving Face examines the practice of acid violence — the deliberate use of acid to harm and disfigure another human being, in most cases, women. Acid attacks are a worldwide phenomenon that is not restricted to a particular race, religion or geographical location. Some of the images are very powerful. Lunch provided for the first 50. Attendees are welcome to bring their own lunch as well.
