Free Summer Camp for H.S. Students Interested in Health Professions

The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso Paul L. Foster School of Medicine Office for Promotion of Community Educational Achievement (OPCEA) in the Office of Admissions will hold its free two-week medical camps for high school students interested in health careers beginning June 29 through August 7. Hours for the camp are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Field trips, guest speakers, labs, as well as a workshop for college preparation and resume writing are just a few of the events planned for students who attend.

A total of 123 high school students from El Paso and the surrounding community were invited to summer medical camps at the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine last year.

“This is a great opportunity for local students to partner with the medical school and begin their road to medicine,” said Rene Andre, assistant director, Outreach Programs, Office of Admissions, PLFSOM.

Students must request an application from their school counselor to attend the camp. For more information on requirements to attend the camp, contact Andre at 215-4408, or email at rene.andre@ttuhsc.edu. Application deadline is May 22.
