Cancer Fight – The Third Annual Fighting Cancer with Knowledge and Research Symposium will take place next Friday, October 3 from noon – 5 p.m. in the Clinical Sciences Building (CSB), 4801 Alberta Ave, Auditorium 3500. In an effort to inform as many people as possible, a portion of the symposium is targeted to the general public and another is focused on health care professionals. Walkin’ the Talk – The Campus Health Initiative (CHI) Committee kicks off its fourth year of monthly wellness lectures with a presentation on Weight Watchers. On Wednesday, October 1 at noon in MEB room 1110, the CHI committee welcomes Julie Jameson, a Weight Watchers leader and territory trainer, who reached her goal weight (on her third attempt) by following the Weight Watchers program. She’ll share her story, highlight the program and provide helpful tips. A healthy lunch will be provided to the first 20 attendees.
Blood Drive – Every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood. This means that more than 41,000 blood donations are needed every day. On Monday, September 29, from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., in the Academic Education Center (AEC) building, classroom 211, United Blood Services personnel will be available to help you donate blood. Please consider participating in this important event. Once you begin, it may become a healthy habit you choose to continue three times a year!
