Second Annual Infectious Diseases Symposium
The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) El Paso Center of Excellence in Infectious Diseases hosted the second annual Infectious Diseases Symposium on November 3. The symposium promoted the discussions on infectious diseases affecting the border and current understanding of infectious disease pathogenesis and recent advances in developing treatments and vaccines for them. Several distinguished scientists from across the country presented their data, including Fenyong Liu, Ph.D., from the University of California at Berkeley; Luis Ostrosky-Zeichner, M.D., from University Texas—Houston Medical School; German Rosas-Acosta, Ph.D., Charles T. Spencer, Ph.D., Siddhartha Das, Ph.D., and Hugues Oullet, Ph.D., all from the University of Texas at El Paso and Patricia Lodato, Ph.D., from New Mexico State University. TTUHSC El Paso Infectious disease researchers also presented short talks and posters.
