Team Tech at Race for the Cure
Team Tech at the Komen Race for the Cure held March 2, showed their “Pink” with 246 registered participants. According to race officials, there were probably more Texas Tech University HSC participants the day of the race but in order to enter the challenge, participants had to register by Wednesday of the week of the race.
Besides winning the University Challenge, they also raised awareness about cancer and promoted education and research at the event. Zeina Nahleh, M.D., chief of the Division of Hematology/Oncology in the Department of Internal Medicine and Co-Director of the Garbar Breast Care Center (GBCC) thanks all the TTUHSC El Paso volunteers for participating in the 2014 Komen G. Foundation for the Cure Race, but especially Cecilia Ochoa, Edna Rath, Jacky Marek, and Rose Heydarian from the TTUHSC El Paso Cancer Clinical Research Core/ Division of Hematology/Oncology; Adela Flores from the GBCC; Pilar Sanchez, of the Office of the Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs, and the team from the Department of Faculty Affairs for all their efforts and contributions.
