Third Annual Fighting Cancer with Knowledge Symposium

The Third Annual Fighting Cancer with Knowledge and Research Symposium is scheduled for Friday, October 3, at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso. There are two free sessions available for the general public as well as for health professionals, physicians, nurses, and students with CME credits and nursing credit hours available.

Health care professionals can attend a session titled “Major Advances Achieved in Breast Cancer Research and How Patient Outcomes Improved” presented by Dr. Zeina Nahleh, from noon to 1 p.m. at the Health Sciences Center, 4800 Alberta Ave, Aud. A. Lunch is provided and registration and attendance is free.

Cancer survivors, and anyone interested in cancer education, may attend the session that begins at 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Texas Tech Medical Center, 4801 Alberta Ave., third floor Auditorium (A3500). Topics include “Three Cancer Screening Programs for Our Community” by Dr. Navkiran Shokar, and “The Importance of Cancer Research and How it is Done” by Dr. Brad Bryan. Poster presentations are from 3:45 to 5 p.m. at 4800 Alberta Ave and are open to all. The symposium is jointly provided by Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) El Paso Department of Internal Medicine Cancer Research, and the TTUHSC Office of Continuing Medical Education.
