TTUHSC at El Paso School of Medicine 2014 Residency Match

The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center at El Paso, Paul L. Foster School of Medicine, Class of 2014 had a successful match process through the National Residency Match Program (NRMP), according to Kathryn Horn, M.D., associate dean for Student Affairs.   The NRMP is operated by the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) and is sponsored by the American Board of Medical Specialties, American Medical Association, American Hospital Association, Council of Medical Specialty Societies, and the AAMC.  The NRMP oversees a computerized process that links choices of graduating medical students with preferences of Residency Program Directors.  Results were announced on “Match Day,” March 21, 2014.

Overall, 53 senior medical students at TTUHSC Paul L. Foster SOM were successful in matching to excellent graduate medical education positions; 36% are remaining in Texas, and 38% have matched to Primary Care (Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, or Obstetrics-Gynecology)  Three students will begin their service to our country through the military match. “Our students have been diligent in their studies for four years and now we are happy to see an excellent second match of the Paul L.
