Foster School of Medicine student chapter of the Association of Women Surgeons (AWS) and two faculty from the TTUHSC El Paso Women in Medicine and Science (WIMS) group participated in the Aim High Conference, a career conference presented by the non-profit organization Latinitas. The organization’s mission is to empower teen and preteen girls and encourage them to go on to higher education. AWS students and WIMS faculty answered questions about careers in medicine and basic sciences, and also about getting into medical school and what to expect. The group also handed out materials on what high school students need to consider if planning a career in medicine.
